QUESTIONS ABOUT VOTING

1. When do I vote?

In January 2021. All registered voters will receive a ballot in the mail at the address where they are registered to vote. Ballots should arrive in your mailbox about 

January 6/7/8 and must be completed and mailed back to the Johnson County Election Office by January 26.


2. Where do I vote?

In the comfort of your own home. A mail-in ballot will be mailed to you by the Election Office. You complete your ballot at home and return it by mail in the reply envelope supplied.


3. Can I vote early?

No, there is no need to vote early OR to request a mail-in ballot. The ballot will be mailed to you at the address associated with your voter registration and you may complete it at your leisure. It must be returned to the election office by January 26. 


4. How do I get my Mail-In Ballot?

If you are registered to vote, it will be mailed to you.

5. If I do not return my Ballot is that the same as a “No” vote?

No. In order to cast a vote either “NO” or “YES” you must mark your ballot accordingly and return it to the Election Office.


6. Do I have to put a stamp on it to mail it back?

No, the ballot comes with a prepaid postage reply envelope. You do not have to apply a stamp. The postage paid reply envelope looks like the yellow envelope to the right.


7. How do I verify I am registered to vote?

Contact the Johnson County Kansas Election Office: call 913-715-6800. Or visit their website at: www.jocoelection.org to verify your registration.


8. How do I register to vote?

Contact the Johnson County Kansas Election Office: call 913-715-6800. Or visit their website at: www.jocoelection.org to register to vote. Last day to register is January 5.


IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

Tuesday, January 5, 2020 --- Last Day to register to vote in this election

January 6, 2020 ---  Johnson County Election Office mails ballots to all 

SMSD registered voters 

About Jan 7/8/9, 2020 ---   Approximate dates ballots will arrive in home 

mailboxes

January 8 to Jan 24 --- Complete ballot and mail it back in

Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 --- 12 NOON Completed Ballots must be delivered to Johnson  County Election Office
